Welcome to Symud Ymlaen / Moving Forward!
The Symud Ymlaen / Moving Forward project provides young people who have offended and those leaving the care system greater access to employment and training. We will work with 440 young people over a two year period beginning October 2013.
The project supports young people undertaking a six month paid work placement, with a range of employers across Wales, with the aim that the employer will continue to employ the young person once their placement has ended. For young people needing extra support we provide bespoke training in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT, as well as generic employability skills.
Each participant is matched with a volunteer mentor at the beginning of the project who will continue to work with them throughout the duration of their time with us. This provides consistency and a single contact who can support them with all aspects of their training and development.
Llamau is the lead organisation, working in partnership with CBSA (Wales) Sova, Construction Youth Trust and Gisda in delivering the project.
The funding for the project has been made available through “Getting Ahead” a Welsh Government initiative, funded through dormant bank accounts and administered by the Big Fund.
